The item “Dropbox” can’t be moved to the Trash because some of its plugins are in use

So today, I am trying to clean up my macbook pro and delete some stuff to free up space and memories. I’ve been using this laptop for year and haven’t really kept it clean, now it is running out of space and actually slowing down my computer.

One of the program that I am trying to delete and free up memories is “dropbox”. When I tried to remove it; this is the error I am getting: “The item “Dropbox” can’t be moved to the Trash because some of its plugins are in use”. And it doesn’t matter if I close all other open application or not, the plus is of no help.

And the only answer that I found to help resolve this problem is: “Open activity monitor (you can search for it with file search) and then force quit the Dropbox porcess. After doing that, I was able to delete the dropbox application.
